500 year old vampire arrested for trying to suck blood

The Real True BloodThe debate on the influence of pop culture on teens is renewed thanks to a teenager who broke into a woman’s house to suck her blood.

Teens are more fascinated than ever with vampires and the entire supernatural phenomena. Vampires, werewolves and witches are ingrained in our culture lately due to hit shows like True Blood and the book series / Movie blockbuster Twilight. Every goth/emo boy wants to be Eric Northman, Bill Compton or Edward Cullen; able to glamour women like Sookie and Bella. Teens pretend to be vampires all the time now dressing up in all black and drinking disgusting clamoto juice (clam and tomato, looks like blood). But at the end of the day it’s just dress up and they don’t take it to far – True vamps drink blood and these kids are just a pile of bitch ass wannabees.

Except for tattooed 19-year-old Lyle Monroe Bensley who is currently awaiting a psychiatric evaluation in jail. Lyle, which is a terrible vampire name, was arrested over the weekend for breaking into a woman’s house to suck her blood dry. Police found him naked except for boxer and and hissing claims that he was a 500 year old vampire. When arrested he told the cops that he needed to feed but, must’ve been overpowered by the woman who escaped unharmed. If anyone wants to meet an alleged real vampire, he is currently being held on $40,ooo bail in Galveston County Jail.

So is Lyle the real deal? We doubt it; for one how would he have a tattoo if he is a vampire with healing abilities. Since a tattoo is an injury the ink wouldn’t last, Sorry Lyle we just blew your claim wide open! So now that we know Lyle is another phony, what would drive him to such extremes to act like a vampire. Pop culture can only be blamed so much, no matter how much they glamorize the supernatural. Lets face it, there is just something about vampires that appeal to us as sexy.

Interview with a vampireA quote from Anne Rice, the godmother of the vampire movement:

“I think the vampire is a metaphor for the outsider and the predator in all of us,” said author Anne Rice, whose Vampire Chronicles series has captured the imaginations of horror fans since the 1970s.

“We’re all conscious at times of being alone, of being alienated, of being a secret self that fears exposure to the judgments of others. So we feel like vampires,”

Anne Rice became famous for her trilogy the vampire chronicles which consisted of: Interview with a Vampire, The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned. She gained mainstream popularity when her first book was made into a Hollywood blockbuster film starring Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Antonio Banderas. The movie still has a strong following in the gay community. Rice has since become very close with her fans and has never met a true vampire:

“My readers are romantics. They’re into the poetry and the romance of vampires; they don’t think they themselves are vampires,” Rice said. “I have never personally met anyone in all these years who claimed to be a vampire.”

Edward Cullen TwilightThe mystery continues, but we can put the Lyle claim to rest by having his trial during the daytime. If he burst into flames then we’ll know he was telling the truth. Unless he’s one of those pussy Twilight vampires that just twinkle like a Christmas tree.

Just kidding, we’re Team Edward.
